"The war against terrorism is essentially a war against radical jihadists. It is one which has been brought to our doorstep with the goal of taking us down as a nation, along with the underpinnings of Western civilization.

We must recognize the significant differences between Islamist extremists and all other Muslims. The radicals' willingness, even desire, to achieve martyrdom through suicide and homicide bombings--resulting in massive amounts of death and destruction--is without precedent.

We must reduce our dependence on oil which provides the financial resources for extremists to flourish and causes the Western world to act in ways which may not be in its best interests. We must, therefore, be prepared and determined to defeat this present danger."
